Strategy & roadmap definition for the implementation of an advanced smart grid management platform. Deployment of flexibility and modulation mechanisms across the distribution grid.

The challenge

The DSOs need to define their target strategy for managing increasing grid constraints and distributed energy resources. Our role included support in determining capabilities required for advanced grid management, flexibility mechanisms and grid modulation. The new way for working was progressively introduced and integrated into existing operations.

The outcome

Clear implementation strategy and multi-year roadmap, with prioritised use cases and capabilities based on grid needs and operational value. Definition of flexibility and modulation mechanisms, target operating principles and integration with existing grid management processes. Prioritisation of deployment phases, from initial congestion management and flexibility capabilities to progressively more advanced grid optimisation and market-based flexibility.
